With over 15 years of experience practicing psychiatry, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha currently serves as a forensic psychiatrist and president of the medical staff at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, Virginia. Along with treating patients in the Men’s Chronic Mental Health Unit, he provides testimony for forensic and civil commitment legal proceedings. Dr. Sridhar Yaratha also works as an attending psychiatrist at the residential treatment center Gateway Homes, where he manages the clinical care of patients with persistent mental health disorders.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha conducted psychiatric evaluations on members of the United States Armed Forces at QTC Medical Management. In addition, at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute, he provided psychiatric care in the Geriatrics, Adult, Adolescent, and Long-Term Units.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sridhar Yaratha has also delivered lectures and seminars on a wide range of subjects in the psychiatric field to professional and academic audiences across the United States. Most recently, he discussed mental health rehabilitation before PGY4 psychiatry residents at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Yaratha stays active by playing soccer, basketball, golf, and tennis. A supporter of local cultural institutions, he contributes to the Richmond Ballet and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
